I was in the Canaries recently, which is off the coast of Africa, but technically falls in Europe (Spain).
Gran Canaria is beautiful, and has dunes, forests, beaches and is called a content in Miniature. This tiny island is a must visit for everyone.
And with it's warm temperate climate throughout the year which is about 18-25 degrees, it's a haven for all of europe throughout the year. (being Indian I don't actually like anything above 20 degrees - but most Europeans love their sun and high temperatures).
But coming to the main topic - Boy, is the island a gay mecca? Hundreds of gay bars, public cruising int dunes of maspalomas, and the
Yumbo Centre which is like a huge mall filled with gay bars, gay discos, gay saunas, gay sex clubs and every other type of gay place - And with thousands of gay tourists from across the world, things get very crazy in Gran canaria. Check out
Gay Gran Canaria.
But alas, I was there with a straight friend of mine, and I promised him that I would keep my dick in my pants for the 5 days I was there with him.
However, we ended up walking through the Dunes of Maspalomas (by error) as we were trying to reach a certain lighthouse in Maspalomas and boy, did we end up bumping into some hot and heavy action taking place publically among the dunes. And boy, was my friend more than a little freaked out (to be honest, so was I). Apparently the authorites know everything that's going on here, and have gone one step ahead of turning a blind eye towards the horny gay tourists (who are the biggest contributors in keeping the island economy running). They've provided markers and trash bags to dispose condoms as well! And after our eye-opening encounter, I came back and trawled the internet and found out all about the
cruising in the dunes of maspalomas. It's non-stop action 24 hours a day 265 days a year.
Too bad my friend got freaked out. And no - I'm not into public sex :) well... sorta not :)
And I even found an older gay Indian gentleman who had been living there since twenty years! He owned a shop in the Yumbo and gave me a discount on souveniers! Ah - Indians love other Indians once they're abroad :)
